Fine Jewelry with AU|rate

Hello, World.

I spent last weekend in Washington, D.C. and it got me thinking about the next few months. I graduate law school in May, then will spend two and a half months studying for the Bar Exam. I’ll then move to D.C. to start working! It’s a very exciting time, but it’s also quite hectic. Still, as I was walking through the streets of D.C., I was getting so excited for the next chapter of my life. A major change associated with the next chapter, however, is that I will spend a majority of my life in business/business casual clothing. As a young professional, I think it’s important to always look my best. I also enjoy adding touches of my personality to otherwise standard business wear. Whether you’re headed home, going to a relative’s, or doing something a bit fancier, I’ve got you covered! I’m headed to North Carolina to visit my aunt! I am personally obsessed with J. Fall…

Hello, World!

Fall is, technically, officially here! I’m so excited for the leaves to change, the temperatures to drop, and the warm lattes. Although it’s still pretty warm (mid 70s-low 80s), I’m trying to convince myself it’s going to get colder because I love the cold. I also cannot stress enough how excited I am to actually have distinct seasons. I’m ready for an East Coast fall and some snow come winter! I wanted to share a quick fall outfit, in case it’s actually pretty cold where some of you are! And if it’s not, well, here’s some inspiration and hope that fall comes faster.

Lobsters and Converse

Hello, World.

Roughly a year ago, I noticed a bunch of people wearing this sweater with a lobster on the front (in navy). I was totally obsessed with it, and really wanted it, but waited too long to see if it would go more on sale, and it sold out. J. Crew factory recently released the same sweater in grey, and I purchased it immediately. If I still wanted the item after a year, I figured it was a good buy. I’m actually glad I got it in grey instead of navy blue. Navy is my go-to color, and so sometimes I want to wear my navy jacket or vest, but don’t have a ton that isn’t navy to wear it with.

I love this sweater so much! I like that it can be work alone, for a more springtime look, or with a button down under it, or with a vest. It’s versatile and comfortable!

Exploring the Bay

Image
Hello, World.

Last weekend my friends and I explored the Marin Headlands, and went hiking. We took my friend’s dogs, and because we’re in the bay area, it was layering weather. Despite the possibility of fog, though, the weather was really nice, and it was fun to finally go to a Golden Gate lookout point that had really great views. San Francisco has so much exploring possibilities, and I feel like I still have so much to see before I graduate. I love the Bay Area because its unfamiliar, and has great opportunities to explore. I’m so glad I ended up going to school in this area compared to my original plans because I feel like it fits who I am at this point in my life perfectly.

I can’t believe the school year is almost over. I don’t know how I feel about it being almost done, but I do know that i’m excited for all the things to come in my last two years of undergrad. What’re you doing this weekend?

Casual Weekends

Hello, World.

This weekend I am housesitting with friends in Marin County. We’ve gone hiking, we saw Spider Man, and we went and got lunch at this really great Puerto Rican resutruant. Its been a productive, carefree weekend, which is much appreciated considering finals are just around the corner. Thankfully this weekend’s weather is beautiful, so it wasn’t too hot or too cold. I’m excited for summer, but I’m hesitant to return home, where the average temperature is 100 degrees.

The fact that my second year in college is coming to end is rather scary. I’m a little horrified by how quickly this year went by, but I know that this year was one of my best. Despite a rocky beginning, I’m so content with how this year is ending, and I feel so blessed. My experience in college is going so well, but it scares me that next year I’ll already be a junior in college. Time really does fly, but for the next two years I’m going to just enjoy the ride, and not get tied down with unimportant things.

Since I was with two of my friends, one took photos for me, and the other took “stalker” photos jokingly, but they actually turned out really well, so I wanted to share them also. So, here’s to Erica being a crazy good stalker photographer…actually, I think they call that paparazzi.

Easter Sunday

Image

Hello, World.

Happy Easter! I spent the day with my amazing family, hunting eggs, watching the kiddos swim, and playing in the yard. I found the money egg during our hunt, which landed me a handsome amount of money! The Easter Bunny was super nice to me this year, as I got a Kate Spade bow ring and Kate Spade earrings! I love anything Kate Spade. When I was younger, I wanted anything Juicy Couture, and now my “grown-up” favorite fun, girly designer is Kate Spade.

Reading the Paper

Image

Hello, World.

Spring break is in full swing, and I must admit that I am finding it difficult to muster motivation to do much of anything. This semester is a little more stressful than previous semesters because my classes just aren’t my favorite. I started reading Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close, and although its interesting, I don’t feel like reading (which is weird). I keep thinking about all the things I wake up, hoping to accomplish in the mornings, and how few of those actually get done by the time I crawl back into bed. I want to read more papers, I want to read more books, I want to blog more, and I want to feel utterly inspired everyday.

Image

My sister and I were talking while I was getting my hair done on Tuesday, and we were discussing how its hard to feel motivated if you don’t love what you’re doing. My classes this semester are good as far as professors go, but the actual subject matter isn’t the most thought provoking thing I’ve experienced. I guess this is why they call the classes I’m taking “required,” and not “best class you will ever take.” When you’re not excited about what you’re doing, it’s hard to feel motivated and it’s difficult to get really into the work. However, spring break means that summer is just a month away (can you believe it?!). This summer I’m hoping to obtain an internship, blog consistently, and read 12 novels. I miss the days when I thoroughly enjoyed reading, the days when I had two or three hours everyday to indulge in something I loved. College is stressful, but I suppose that’s the point. Despite this semester lacking a bit, I still love my college, and I love the people I surround myself with.

Image

Looking forward, though, I’m SO excited for summer and next year. Summer will, hopefully, be 1000 times better than last summer. I have a feeling that no matter that summer has in store will trump last year on so many levels. Next fall I will be a Resident Advisor, living in a single room, cooking for myself, doing an honors contract, and taking some classes I really want to take! Let’s just say I have a ton of plans and aspirations, and I’m excited to begin the execution process of said goals.

ImageImage

Today is a pretty mellow day, and if I’m being 100% honest, I had an outfit post all planned and ready to go, but I wasn’t loving how the photos were turning out. Sometimes outfits that seem super adorable in your head aren’t so great in execution (or at least on camera). So, instead, I drank an Americano by the pool and read The New York Times and little bit of Girls in White Dresses. Reading and such can be so relaxing if nothing else is working out the way you originally planned. I’m starting to get antsy about the fact that spring break is almost over…I’m really not looking forward to that.

Chunky Necklaces and Sperry Topsiders

Image
Hello, World.

On Saturday some friends and I went shopping because we really needed some retail therapy. Life lately is insane, and most people feel super stressed about so many different things. Going shopping was a nice stress reliever because it let everyone just talk, look at clothes, and hangout without any school pressure. Since we were in my roommates hometown, we stopped by one of the major wineries because she is always talking about how beautiful it is. I really like living in the Bay Area because there are so many different, awesome places to explore all the time. I also am enjoying getting to know more people, and forming friendships with great people. Sophomore year of college is going by too quickly, but it’s been a great year on a lot of levels, and I know that my junior year is going to be even better, if not the best year yet.

I know I’ve posted a lot of outfit photos with my navy vest, but it’s seriously one of the best pieces of clothing in my closet right now. I love it so much, and it’s the perfect article of clothing for slightly chilly yet still warm days. I’m going to be really sad when it starts getting too warm to wear a vest, but I’m also excited to start wearing shorts and sandals. Summer outfits feel much easier to put together, but alas, fall or winter outfits will always be my favorite. ImageImageImageImage
Speaking of the fact that spring is coming, lately I keep thinking about where I was just a short year ago. My life was so different, the relationships in my life in much different places, and my hopes for summer and other things so much different. Things have changed so much, but its definitely for the best. I’m so happy, and things are really working out for me lately, which makes life so much easier. When years begin with a lot of hardship, sometimes it’s hard to see how it can get better, but if you just hold your head up, and keep pushing through, karma will reward you.
ImageImageImage
I’m really enjoying where I currently I am, and although I’ve struggled with my major this year, my life plan, and my personal relationships, I feel like I’m figuring out who I want to be when this whole college thing is said and done. Hard work pays off, so every time I begin to question myself, I remind myself to keep pushing forward. I have so many goals, and I love all the things I’m currently involved in, so I just need to keep going after what I want. Also, I’m happy with who is in my life right now because for the first time in a long time, I feel like the people I surround myself with are 100% genuine.

Oxford Prep

Hello, World.

Today is currently Friday, which means that another week is ending, and it is now the weekend. This weekend is particularly special because my parents are coming to visit! A few weekends ago was my dad’s birthday, but I had Resident Advisor interviews, and couldn’t go home or have them visit. Tonight we’re going to dinner and shopping a bit, then I’m staying at their hotel with them to get maximum family time. Very exciting stuff, I know. I also plan to get coffee in the morning with my dad. We usually get ready, then go to the lobby of the hotel for coffee while my mom finishes getting ready. It’s really nice. My dad is that person who doesn’t say much, but when he does speak up, I make sure to listen.

Image

I’m so glad it’s Friday, but I’m even more glad it’s the weekend. I’m hoping that this weekend is relaxing yet productive, especially since midterms are coming up soon. This semester feels a little weird because it feel like it’s going by SO slowly, but I know that in just two months I’m going to be packing up, moving back home. I’m hoping to get an internship this summer, so fingers crossed for that! Anyway, I wanted to share some photos of what I wore today. The weather is getting increasingly warmer, so I need to readjust my closet because all my spring clothes are at home, and all my winter (like, super winter) clothes are at school, which makes it difficult when it is 75 degrees in the best part of the day. ImageImageImage I got this Oxford t-shirt when I attended a Grad School Info session a few months back. It’s interesting to me how I used to think that once I made it to college the hard part was over. I’m afraid that the hard parts are just part of life, and they will continue coming no matter what milestone we get to. I have so many plans regarding my life, but I know that it’s going to be impossible to achieve any of those things if I just check out while in college, and think, “well, this is enough.” ImageImageImage So I guess I’ll continue working hard, and trying to get things done, and move forward, and do all the things I want to do. The friend that took my photos today asked me if I would rather be a mega-successful blogger (like Elsie and Emma from A Beautiful Mess), or a world famous intellectual property lawyer, and my gut said, “both?” I want  a lot from life, and I think I’ll just keep doing my thing until I figure out what I’m going to end up doing. ImageImage Shirt: c/o Saint Mary’s College of CA Grad School Info Night // blazer: UO (old) // jeans: LC by Lauren Conrad // shoes: Sperry Topsiders // belt: Lucky Brand Jeans // purse: vintage coach (thrifted)  Image What are your plans this weekend? Enjoy Friday!
