Fall Outfit Inspiration with AUrate

Hello, World.

The temperatures are dropping, the fireplaces in homes are being used, and it’s officially cold enough to wear sweaters and boots without overheating. Fall is a great time for fashion, but as busy students it can be hard to look cute and put together while rushing from meetings to classes to the library. I know for me, comfort is key when studying hits its peak in the weeks leading to finals. Today, I wanted to share my ideal fall outfits, which are all complemented by AUrate earrings.  AUrate is a jewelry company in New York City that creates beautiful, dainty jewelry from ethically sourced materials because doing good is ingrained in the company’s DNA. Speaking of doing good, for each piece of jewelry purchased, an economically underprivileged child will receive a book! How cool is that? Reading is SO important, and I love the mission of this company.

Now, on to my ideal outfits. I wanted to create two looks that I would wear regularly during fall months. The second look is something fancier, for nights out with friends, meetings with college alums, or heading to a holiday event.

Layering is SO necessary at the temperatures drop (at an exceedingly rapid pace). I also hate when my feet are cold, so rain boots and thick socks are a must. I love how this casual look is immediately stepped up when you add the half-moon earrings from AUrate! While the outfit looks simple at first, the earrings add a delicate, sophisticated touch!

I love vests, and skirts are my go-to for fall months. I love delicate, feminine details in my fancier outfits, so the pearl earrings from AUrate were the natural choice to accompany this outfit. I love that only the pearls are visible when the earrings are worn, so you have a great pearl detail. The pearls look like they line the bottom of the earlobe, which is classic and chic all at once.

Is it even fall on the east coast if you aren’t wearing Bean Boots and LL Bean vests? I don’t think so. Classic cream sweaters, skinny jeans, fuzzy vests, boot socks, and bean boots are the quintessential fall look, so I felt it was appropriate to include as one of my favorite seasonal looks. I also love the simplicity of the ‘A’ earrings, which add the perfect classy detail to an otherwise cozy outfit.

What are your ideal fall looks?

Fourth of July Outfits

Hello, World.

Fourth of July is coming soon! I feel like this holiday always sneaks up on me. I totally forget about it, and I in March I’ll think “this fourth of July I’ll remember to get an outfit for our celebration.” Then we’re at the end of June, and I have once again forgotten to get something. So, I’m here to share some easy Fourth of July outfits that could be replicated with things already in your closet! To get you in the spirit, here is a gif from Legally Blonde: Red, White and Blonde:

First up we have an off the shoulder red dress, which I think is perfect for the Fourth, but would also be perfect for any other summer day, so you’d be able to re-wear it to dinner or to the park! The pale blue sunglasses are a festive touch, which can also be re-worn. A navy cross-body and white converse are ideal for running around a parade or other local festivities.

I love the old fashioned blue two piece, I think you really cant go wrong with it. I also think the old fashioned suits are so flattering (I mean, Marilyn Monroe wore this style, so obviously it works). I think swimsuits are great on their own, but sunglasses can add a little extra to an otherwise simple look.

This cute gingham top with the bow detailing is perfect for backyard BBQs are dinner before fireworks, especially if you’re experiencing the heat wave on the west coast! I love the look of white ripped shorts, and I think they balance the preppy feel of the top! I am obsessed with slide sandals… It’s a little embarrassing, but I think they are just so chic, and I definitely love the red. I could also see the shoes worn with black skinny jeans and  black for dinner out in the fall. Screen Shot 2017-06-20 at 7.50.38 PM

What are you wearing this Fourth of July and how are you celebrating?

Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspiration

Hello, World.

I cannot believe it is almost February! To be honest I didn’t really even realize that the holidays were actually over until I went to CVS, and all the displays were changed to red and pink hearts, How to Train Your Dragon 2 valentines, and lots of Hersey’s kisses. Valentine’s Day is always a point of contention for people. It’s a very polarizing holiday since single people seem to boycott, and people in relationships get all too excited. Regardless of your stance, it is a holiday, so you should celebrate! I’ve compiled a few outfits suited for three types of celebrations, so I wanted to share them with you! I’ll probably be in jeans and some kind of blouse or pajamas, but hey, some people have big plans!
Valentine's Day Dinner and a MovieIf you’re going to dinner and a movie (perhaps you’re in a new relationship), I suggest fitted jeans, a sultry little blouse, and fun pumps. This is still dressy enough to be romantic, but comfy enough to not be over the top. Movies that are coming out on V-Day? 50 Shades of Grey! It may be difficult to convince your guy to see it, but it may be a good choice for the day. ;)
Valentine's Day Fancy DinnerFor dinner at a nice restaurant, I suggest a cute little black dress, pink suede pumps, and a fun clutch. This is more formal, with a hint of romanticism, and has a sultry undertone. Simple, dainty gold jewelry is a perfect touch if you’re going to a nice dinner.
Valentine's Day Girl's NightAs for the singe ladies, a cute little dress, some pumps, and a simple clutch make for a great night out outfit. If you’re single, you can still have a great Valentine’s Day with the girls. Last Valentine’s Day, my friends and I went to the Vagina Monologues on campus, dinner, and then watched movies all night with WAY too much candy. It was basically the epitome of being single on V-Day, but it was still really fun.

Fourth of July Outfits

Hello, World.

I love the Fourth of July. I love patriotic events, and I enjoy dressing up in red, white, and blue. I’ve gone to a Fourth of July parade for years, and I just adore them. I used to love the pancake breakfast, but being gluten free makes the whole eating pancakes thing quite difficult. My family and I usually go to our cabin for the Fourth, and spend the morning at the parade, then hit the beach with our family friends, and end the day with a dinner and fireworks. It’s pretty relaxed compared to some Fourth of July traditions, but it a tradition I love and look forward to every year. I wanted to share some outfit ideas for different areas of Fourth of July!
