May 2016 Tunes

Hello, World.

With 12 days until graduation, I’m a little nostalgic and in denial. I can’t believe I won’t be returning to Saint Mary’s in the fall, and I’ll be moving across the country!! I’m so excited for all the changes, though, as they are new and exciting and I do feel I’ve outgrown SMC a little. I’m ready for the next big thing. BUT I’m still sad that I won’t be close to all the amazing people I met in college. Again, I’m a little in denial. Today, though, I wanted to share a little graduation inspired playlist! Hope you enjoy, and if you’re graduating this year: CONGRATS!

Tune Diaries: November 2015

Hello, World.

It’s actually raining today! As someone that loves cold weather, I’ve been a little sad about the lack of rain, but I’ve been happy all day because it’s finally raining. I’m so so excited that it finally feels like fall. In light of this, I wanted to share my November playlist. All the songs on the list are songs that remind me of fall!

Tune Diaries: February 2015

Hello, World.

Can you believe it is February already? I sure can’t. The shortest month of the year is here, and with it there comes some awesome things. For one, I have the concluding semester of my junior year in undergrad, the 50 Shades of Grey movie is released (the perfect all girls Valentines date), and the Gonzaga versus SMC basketball game! For these reasons, I’m looking forward to February. In light of the new month, it’s time for a new playlist.

October Tune Diaries

Hello, World.

Today is the first day of my favorite month of the year. While I adore the holidays, I just love October because it is the month when fall really starts to sink in, it’s the month of Halloween, and it’s not nearly as stressful as November or December! In light of today, I wanted to share a share my fall vibes/October playlist!

August Playlist

Hello, World.

It’s the beginning of August, which means it’s time for a playlist! I have so much making the playlists I post on this blog. It’s silly, really, but I feel like music is pretty universal. I’m that girl that makes a playlist for most things-break ups, fights with friends, a bad grade on an exam, etc. It’s pretty lame, but hey, you gotta do what makes you feel better. Anyway, this month is special to me. Last August was a bit of a blur. So many things changed, and so much happened, and I kind of just went through the motions of a life without really noticing what was happening, and then it was September and school was starting, and I was like, “Oh, okay?” This August is a month I have some really great feelings about, like honestly, I think it’s going to be so great. I have two weeks left on my internship, two weeks until I head down to school to begin Resident Advisor training, then school will be starting and I’m so excited. I feel so great about the direction my life is heading, and I’m really looking forward to forming awesome friendships with other RAs. So many good vibes lately, like I cannot even put my feelings into complete sentences (so please ignore the fragments). Anyway, here is my August playlist! Some of the songs are part of the four-song loop I listen to on my way to and from my internship. Now they can be stuck in your head too!

July Tune Diaries

Hello, World.

It’s July! I can’t believe it. The summer is flying by. Today was my first day at my summer internship, and I’m really excited about the opportunity. I’m excited to learn about the law field and gain experience. I think it’s true that right when we stop believing something will work out, it does. I totally gave up on any chance of getting an internship this summer, and slipped into lazy summer mode, then got a phone call about an internship. I was thrilled! I get way too bored if I don’t have something to keep me busy. Again, I’m excited for the opportunity to learn about the law field and the day-to-day procedures.

Anyway, I LOVE the month of July. I love the Fourth, I love the overuse of red, white, and blue, and I love the excitement that occurs during the second month of summer. So, in light of this, I wanted to share my July playlist. Here we go:

Tune Diaries: April

Hello, World.

Today is April 3rd, and I’m having trouble believing it because that means I’m done with my second year of college in less than two months. Yikes. People always tell me that college goes by even faster than high school, but I try to ignore them because I love where I am, and I’m not ready to move on anytime soon. Anyway, last week was midterms (brutal), and I have to finish this week, and get through next week before I can go home for Easter break. A lot of things are working out for me right now, and I feel so incredibly blessed, and cannot wait to see my family! My sister also just purchased her first home, so I’m very excited to see it when I go home. I love her dearly, and I couldn’t be happier for her! Also, she has the cutest puppy ever so I’m can’t wait to see her. I have a good feeling this month because I just got my first job, summer is near, the weather is (theoretically) warming up, and my friendships are stronger than ever. I hope you enjoy my playlist, and I hope you’re having a great start to April.

February Playlist

Hello, World.

I wanted to share my February playlist. It’s a random list, but I really like all these songs at the moment. My music taste tends to go through phases, and I can feel myself starting to like more popular music, and less indie and unheard of bands. But, they still have a special place in my heart, and in a few months will probably make a reappearance. This month means a new semester, spring coming, and the end of my second year of college (CRAZY)! So, here’s to February, and spending V-Day single, focusing on getting fit, and enjoying life.

Talk Dirty – Jason Derulo
Finally Found You – Sammy Adams
Let Her Go – Passenger
Make a Move – Gavin Degraw

Tune Diaries: January

Hello, World.

It’s that time again that I share what’s currently repeating in my Spotify or iTunes. January is the “fun” month on campus, and so this playlist represents the endless possibilities, the fun adventures, the trying of new things, the crazy 2 am conversations so frequently had, and the new faces you meet when you can finally take a class outside your major (in theory). I’m having so much fun discussing Faulkner’s Yoknapatawpha County, and the race relations as well as gender relations within that county rooted so deeply in the irony that composes Southern hospitality. Other classes I’m not enrolled in, but that my friends are loving? A course about California’s history, and it’s place in the literary world, a course on copyrights and the idea of plagiarism in the real world (SO jealous of this!!), a course on artists looking at territory, violence, and war, and my personal favorite of my friends’ courses: coffee vs. tea, battle of the mega-beverages. I would love to sit around and sip coffee and tea, and look at the physical make up of each! Anyway, this playlist toasts the crazy adventures of those students at school this month, and those students trekking through the unfamiliar terrain of Rome, Ireland, Greece, Rwanda, or Cambodia. Enjoy listening, and share with me some of your favorite tunes of the moments.

Hurricane- MS MR
Timber- Pitbull feat. Kesha
Cannonball- Lea Michele
Love Somebody- Maroon 5
I Never Told You- Colbie Caillat
Sweet Caroline- Neil Diamond
Waiting for The Dawn- The Mowgli’s
White teeth Teens- Lorde
Anything Could Happen- Ellie Goulding
Flaws- Bastille
Keep Together- Hunter Hunted
