December Daily Week 4

Hello, World.

Here is the final week of December Daily 2016! I’m always a bit sad when this project is over, but I also feel ready to move on. It’s hard to stay focused on December when the prospects of the new year are plastered everywhere.

Note about the videos, I’m no YouTube magician, so the volume may need to be turned way up if you want to hear me explain each page (whether this week or previous weeks). But you can also just watch to see the pages, without my commentary!

If you missed previous weeks, click the week to watch: Week One, Week Two, Week Three.

December Daily Week 2

Hello, World!

Today I am happy to share December Daily, week 2 with you! I seriously love this project, just as much as I love the holiday season. I was also really proud of how my album turned out this year because I was able to dedicate time each day to it. I used the album as a study break, a creative outlet in the midst of finals season! Hope you like my pages.

My Top Holiday Movies

Hello, World.

As the holidays approach, I wanted to take a moment to share my favorite holiday movies. there are so many great holiday movie picks, and this is definitely not a comprehensive list, but I wanted to share the movies I return to year after year. For those of you studying for finals, take a break every now and then and watch one of these films to remind you there is light at the end of the finals tunnel: CHRISTMAS!

Holiday movies.png

The Holiday | starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, and Jude Law, this pick is a sure win. It’s corny in places, but the overall story is so good, and it’s one I can watch over and over.

Eloise at the Christmastime | If you want to return to your childhood, I recommend this winner. It’s so cute! And it makes you wish you lived in the Plaza Hotel!

The Santa Clause | Tim Allen is too good in this! I love this movie, and I especially love the sequel.

The Family Man | This is a family favorite in my house! It’s one of the few holiday movies my dad will watch. The message of this film is so good, and reminds us to be thankful!

Either of the first two Harry Potter films | Before things get too dark in the Harry Potter world, I think the first two have so much magic, and do have Christmas sequences!

What’s your holiday favorite?

Truly,

Callie Leigh

Gift Guide: Christmas 2016

Hello, World.

I know it feels a bit early to be thinking about Christmas, but I don’t think it’s ever too early to start thinking about gifts. For me, I try to get through finals and then worry about it, but then I always feel pressed for time. Thinking about gifts early makes sure you’re giving great gifts, and makes sure you have time for them to ship to you, and that the items aren’t sold out!! So, I put together a gift guide, and wanted to help make your holiday shopping experience as painless as possible.

Stocking stuffers are a fun part of Christmas because you can give your loved ones a little something extra! I also think stocking stuffer ideas can double as small gifts for people in our life that you want to show a little love and appreciation to!

My top picks for stocking stuffers are:EcoTools Lovely Looks: Glamorous Glow Set • EcoTools Kate Spade New York Eat Cake For Breakfast Phone Charger for iPhone®5 and 5s • Kate Spade slip Silk Eye Mask Vivid Leather Earbud Case Library of Flowers Linden Luminary, 5 oz. • Library of Flowers Philosophy Pure Grace Perfumed Body Spritz 8 Oz. • philosophy tarte Amazonian butter lipstick • Tarte Gingham Cosmetics Case Women’s Italian Leather Classic Gloves, Jewel-Toned Ribbed hat with faux-fur pom-pom • J.CrewBaubleBar ‘Flamenco’ Drop Earrings • BaubleBar Leather Zip Wristlet Fossil Rfid Passport Case • Fossil Cable over-the-knee socks (2-pack) • Gap CB Gift That’s All ‘Live Fearlessly’ Ceramic Trinket Tray

Here are some bigger gifts for the people you feel confident spending a little more on. I typically go big for my mom, sister, brother-in-law, and dad.

My top picks for slightly larger gifts: Philosophy Fresh Cream Body Experience
Herringbone Weekender
Navy Watch Plaid Cosmetics Case
Starbucks® VerismoTM 600 Brewer
Beats by Dr. Dre Gold Beats Solo 3 On-Ear Wireless Headphones

I like to go especially crazy for my mom. She and I are so close (think Lorelai and Rory without the Season 6 crazy), and so I always want to show her how much I appreciate her during the holidays. I’m so excited to return to California, and a big part of being home for the holidays is how special my mom insists on making them.

For mom: Leather Handle Boat and Tote
Ray-Ban Round Monochromatic Clubmaster® Sunglasses, Black/Green
Tory Burch all around zip wallet
Burberry Check Wool & Cashmere Scarf
Aerie Power Naps Sleep Mask
stila ‘eyes are the window TM – soul’ eyeshadow palette
Leather gloves
Short Leather Stacked Heel Booties

Nike FS Lite Run 3 Womens Running Shoes

New Friends can be tricky to buy for, but I think it’s also important to recognize, to some degree, that you’re excited to have the new friendship! Here are some small, or larger, ways to show you care.

Boston, Massachusetts Calligraphy Map Art Print
J.Crew ‘Edie’ Ruffle Top
Argento Vivo Personalized Large 3-Initial Letter Monogram Necklace
Artisan Crafted Majolica Ceramic Bird Mugs (Pair), ‘Owl Hospitality’
Plaid Flannel Fringe Scarf for Men
Kate Spade New York – Ready Set Bow Bangle Bracelet
Cable crewneck sweater with ruffle sleeves

Screen Shot 2016-11-08 at 1.35.22 PM.pngBuying for men can be even trickier. I think men are the hardest to shop for because they, at least the men I know, never want anything! But, there are ways to show you care that are both cute and practical. My worst fear is I’ll buy something, and it’ll sit in the dark corners of their closet.

Waxed Canvas Laptop Sleeve
Leather bottoms-up flask
Wool-blend tech gloves
Classic Gift Set
Bean’s Cuffed Beanie Men’s
Heavyweight flannel shirt
Men’s Tek Gear® Fleece Crew Sweatshirt

What gifts are you giving this season?

December Daily: Days 20 -26

Hello, World.

I am here to share week 4 of December Daily. I’m so excited because this week includes Christmas(!!!!!!). I love Christmas, and the whole holiday season. I always get so excited for Christmas, and then it goes by so quickly. I’m glad this project allowed me to relive the holiday again!
-11
On the 20th, my mom and I had hot coco (with peppermint schnapps), and baked all day. We made sugar cookies from scratch, and these weird Butterfingers bites that didn’t turn out as perfectly as we hoped. It was so much fun! I love love love baking!
-10
On the 21st, I wrapped a ton of gifts. I was a little shopping this year, so I had to wrap up until Christmas Eve, but I LOVE wrapping gifts for people. I am not crazy about how the ’21’ turned out, but the flaws of this album make it a little more authentic in my opinion. -9
The 22nd, I enjoyed being home with puppy and family (this seems to be a common theme). -8
23rd! Included Harry Potter, and family time! -7On Christmas Eve, we went to my Aunt Kathy’s per tradition. I wore a J.Crew cream sweater, a J. Crew factory plaid skirt, green tights, and my Tory Burch boots! -6
Look at how adorable my family is? Hunter (the baby I’m holding) is my cousin’s baby boy. He’s so sweet! Carter, my other cousin’s little girl, had an interesting idea for dessert, but boy is she adorable. My mom and I took a photo in our matching Christmas Eve pjs!
IMG_2764
The wrapping paper featured at the top of this page is the paper used for Santa Gifts!-5-4
I used a transparency from the Ali Edwards December Daily Main Kit here, and her glitter stars. I used the A Beautiful Mess photo app to add the “sister love” writing to the bottom photo. I also used the app to make 4×6 images. -3-2
I really wanted this page included, and I didn’t know where. Since my 25 day spread was sort of long, I used this to break it up a bit. On the back, it says ‘ho ho ho’ and I used another page, which I adhered to a small bag, to store all the extra images that didn’t make it into the book. In the one you can see popping out below, my sister and I were whipping and nae nae-ing. ;)-13-1
We always have hot coco on Christmas in our pjs. It’s perfect. This year was the first Christmas with Greg and Brie as husband and wife! -14Christmas was absolutely magical! I enjoyed every second of it! I love the holidays, and I love being able to spend so much time with my family. It’s truly the best. I can’t totally describe the pure happiness I feel every year on December 25th. -12
Over the top of my day 26 page, I used the 2×2 page from the Ali Edwards kit, and put in a C, a little tree, and a star. I also cute out the 26 from a gift tag number, and put it in. Then you turn the 2×2 page to see the actual events of the 26th. IMG_2773
On the 26th, I went downtown with my parents, and did a little shopping for my mom, and then we at lunch at the Diamond Hotel restaurant. It was a great day, and a good way to spend the day after Christmas.

Only one more post left before the end of December Daily album!

Truly,
Callie leigh

Home for the Holidays

Hello, World.

I’m currently home on Christmas break, and I’m loving it! I used to get so anxious to return to school, but this year I’m soaking in lazy days at home and time with the family, and avoiding any thoughts of going back to school. My mom always decorates our house so well, so I wanted to share glimpses of my holiday-filled home.

My home always feels so cozy, comfortable, and happy during the holidays. My mom always tries to mix up the theme as far as decorations. Regardless of theme, though, it always looks amazing. I love love love the holiday season, and I love it even more at home!

These Days.

Image

Hello, World.

So, in the spirit of finals… I am taking a moment to procrastinate (kind of), and post a quick ‘these days.’ A lot of things have been going on in my life lately, so I thought I would post a little catch up post.

Drinking:  A peppermint latte, trying to stay warm in the insanely cold weather that has consumed my town lately. I love a good holiday drink, and I’m kind of a holiday-flavor junky. It makes me really sad when come January it seems odd to order pumpkin or peppermint or gingerbread.

Weather: It’s currently 48 degrees in town, and I’m freezing. Also, it snowed in Chico last night and I am quite devastated that I missed it. Seriously, I waited for four years of high school for it to snow at least once, and it never did, and then the one time I’m away at school it snows. Weather is a fickle little thing.

Reading: Bible homework. My Biblical Literature final is on Monday, and the study guide is five-pages single-spaced. Can you imagine what I am doing?

Thinking About: All the things I have to do between now and Thursday. Talk about stressful. Also, life happened this week, and so I didn’t get as much done as I originally hoped, but something that is nice is that I finally have some closure in my personal life, which is always a good thing. So, now for all nighters….

Excited About: Going to Livermore today, to my best friends house to help her family decorate their Christmas tree, get cheap Chinese food, watch Christmas movies and study. I love her family, they are so welcoming and hilarious, and its nice to know that I have a family close to school when my family is still three hours away.

Missing: My mama, my dad, my sister, sleep, and the ability to just be. Stress has gotten the best of me this semester, but today is a new day, and despite that its now finals, I know that things are looking up, and that in just a few short days, I will be able to cuddle up next to the fire with my dog, a book, some tea, and my family.

Addicted to: I thought about not including this section for this ‘these days’ because I’m really not addicted to anything at the moment, but then I realized I am kind of addicted to happiness. I feel like happiness is always the goal, and I’m addicted to finding it. So, maybe I’m addicted to adventures, or doing things the hard way because I want to figure out what will make me happy, but in the end, I just want to be happy, and I just want the people I care about to be happy. And I hope everyone knows that even when you’re surrounded by confusion, as long as you have faith, happiness will find you.

Truly,

 Callie Leigh
