Fall is officially here, and yet the sun is still shining, and it’s still 70 degrees outside. I’m not exactly thrilled it is still super warm outside, but oh well. In a feeble attempt to channel some fall vibes, I keep dressing more for fall…but then I end up dying of a heat stroke, so I change mid-day. I recently ordered the J. Crew herringbone vest, and I’m super in love with it. I’m beginning to really love vests. Last winter I wore my vest a ton. I wanted to invest in another vest for this fall, but I wanted a vest that had a little more texture. When the herringbone vest came back in stock, I knew I had to get it.

I really love this vest, and I think I’ll style it with plaid next. Also, my first Tory boots are heaven. They’re so sleek and comfortable. I’m really happy my mom was kind enough to get them as an early birthday gift during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I hope you’re having a good weekend! I’m heading out soon to get vitality bowls, and tomorrow is one of my best friend’s 21st birthday!
In the last year or so I’ve become a hat person. I used to only wear baseball hats if it was required, and I definitely never picked hats out while shopping. Sure, I liked hats on other people, but I never thought of my face as one that looked good with a hat. So last winter, when I realized I was pinning a lot of looks that had hats in them, I started considering the idea of buying myself a baseball cap. I had previously warmed up to the idea of sun hats, and bought two to wear while lounging on the beach during the summer, but I was still rather unsure about baseball caps. However, I ended up going to my niece’s T-ball game, and I wore a hat to shield my face from the sun. Guess what? I didn’t hate the baseball cap look. So about a month later I was in my campus bookstore checking out the new merchandise, and stumbled upon a white SMC cap. I took a risk, and bought it (you can see it styled here in a weekend college look). Anyway, to make a long story short, I started seeing a lot of people wearing the Southern Proper hat featured in this post, and I fell in love. The hat so much character, and I am a sucker for a good plaid piece. Also, the little lab with the red bowtie is too much. I adore it.

I swear I’m trying to will fall to come… I love fall more than anything, and I really need some cold weather soon. I love dressing for cold weather more than other seasons, and I always feel more put together in fall. I’m not totally sure why, but I just feel like fall is warmer than summer in a different way than just temperature. Fall is filled with a transition to holiday spirit, oversized sweaters, and leather boots. Fall will forever hold my heart.
Are you ready for fall?
Today was a beautiful day. The weather was perfect… not too hot, not too cold. I also decided that I wasn’t going to bother with homework or schoolwork today because I am not about to start doing school seven days a week. We are supposed to have weekends for a reason, and I would like that think that reason is so we can relax and gain our bearings before another week of the grind. But alas, today was great. My friends, Aly and Andee, joined me for brunch at Millie’s a great local diner that has phenomenal breakfast! Breakfast was delicious, and the conversation was funny, which is always nice. Then we returned to campus, and hiked up past the Redwood Grove, and took some photos. After, we ran to get coffee, but the coffee place was out of soy milk, so I didn’t get anything. Overall, it was one of the funnest days I’ve had in a long time. Being stressed is one of my least favorite things, and I love the moments when I don’t feel completely deranged and can just enjoy the company of good friends. Here are some photos of today’s outfit, and of the beautiful place we went exploring.
The final photo features my lovely photographer of the day, Andee. She’s such a doll, and a wonderful photographer. She really has an eye for great photos! Personally, I think a profession where she typically has a camera in her hand is in her future, but who am I to say? Anyway, my saturday was brilliant, but sadly I know tomorrow means homework…lots of homework. But it’s only 8:30pm so I still have a few hours of being carefree left. Enjoy your Saturday night or Sunday morning, and maybe take a few minutes this week to go explore somewhere or something new!
