My Fall Wishlist

Hello, World.

As I write this, I’m sipping a venti chai latte (hot, of course, as we’re well into September) and wearing a cardigan, despite the fact it’s still 80 degrees outside. I keep seeing northeastern bloggers going apple picking, snapping fall foliage, and wearing chunky sweaters. I almost burn up wearing a cardigan and it’s nearly October! Anyway, I’m trying to get into the fall spirit and would like to share a little fall wishlist with some pieces I’d love to add to my closet this year. I love the cozy, brisk mornings of fall, but I have yet to experience one… here are pieces that are getting me excited for the day it feels like fall.

Baseball Cap | Leopard Flats | Green Belt | Patagonia Fleece Hoodie | Patagonia Popover | Burnt Orange Sweater | J. Crew Bell Sleeve Top| Monogram Leather Gloves | Cashmere Beanie | Over the Knee Boots | Barbour Plaid Scarf

I love over the knee boots… ever since Serena van der Woodsen wore a gray, suede pair with her Constance uniform. I have only owned one pair, but I’m tempted to invest in another pair this season. They look so good with skirts, bare-legged on not-quite-cold- days! I also love the fuzzy Patagonia fleeces, but I have yet to invest in one. Speaking of which, I also love burnt orange! I think it’s the quintessential fall color.

What styles are you loving this season?

Fall Favorites

Hello, World.

The town I go to school in is currently experiencing a heat wave, and I am not about it. The temperatures are consistently in the high 80s or mid 90s, and it’s frankly much hotter than I’m willing to deal with. Also, if you factor in that I have a head cold at the moment, I just feel cloudy in the head, and too warm and uncomfortable to be super functioning. Anyway, as a result of the heat, I’ve prayed that fall comes soon, especially now that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are available (which is the quintessential fall beverage for most girls in their twenties). So, I was looking at a few of my favorite stores online, and while melting away in my dorm room, I compiled a little list of my current favorite fall items!
Fall FavoritesJ Crew Factory Sweater | J Crew Factory Rain Coat | J Crew Button Down | J Crew Factory Grey Skirt | J Crew Plaid Skirt | Brooks Brothers Plaid Dress | Cole Haan Penny Loafers (dream shoe!) | L.L. Bean 6″ Boot (I have the 8″, which I love, but I think I might invest in the 6″ as well. I love the 8″ with dresses and skirts, but I think the 6″ hits in a more flattering place in jeans).

I sure hope the weather cools down soon, and we can start wearing sweaters and boots again! I’m so much more inspired by fall weather than summer weather. What are your fall favorites?

Truly,
Callie Leigh

Fall Fashion Trends: The Fair Isle Sweater

Hello, World.

If you happened to see me at Christmas in the past few years, you know that I’m a HUGE fan of Christmas or Holiday sweaters. I spend months browsing for the perfect holiday sweater, and I get WAY too excited to wear the one I finally pick. I recently discovered, or rather re-discovered, the fair isle sweater…I’m in love. Sure, that’s probably a shallow thing to say, but I just love everything about this style sweater. It offers so much warmth, comfort, and, well, it just seems absolutely perfect for the season. I love how they have a bit of the holiday feel without being super in your face. They can be casual or worn to a festive gathering, and it’ll look perfect either way. I’ve compiled some of my favorite sweaters via Pinterest, and I just had to share!
37544fb7e1a0d5044c4a91196968385a3b1ac343ccae57bf2c2c562a23e772d3
So I’m currently coveting both of those ^ sweaters. I’m a huge navy, red, and white fan…call me patriotic. I just adore the color combo, and these sweaters feel like something I would wear constantly. Truth be told, they are both mens sweaters, but I don’t discriminate, so I’d glady take either. Unfortunately the bottom sweater is currently sold out a J. Crew, which means I’m probably going to aim to obtain the Brooks Brother sweater (top).

Sarah Vickers is probably the Queen of the fair isle sweater. Honestly, she can pull them off so well, and she has so many different variations of the style. I just love her sweaters, and her entire wardrobe really.

The College Prepster has the sweater on the left, and I just think it is so cute! It’s really outside my comfort zone as far as the general color combo and whatnot, but I think it’s just far enough outside that I’d like to try it! The sweater on the right is from Urban Outfitters (last year), and I love the mint. It’s a good mix between the preppy feel and the more urban (forgive me…) feel. It’s not quite as tailored, and can be styled off the shoulder(s). Also, it’s a little slouchy, which is always a good quality in a sweater.

What are your thoughts on the fair isle sweater?

Fall Fashion Trend: Capes

Hello, World.

As you know, I’m a huge of fall fashion. I just love layering, and I love boots and sweaters. In all honesty, if I could wear boots or sweaters all year I would. I’m a huge fall person, and I think it’s because I hate being hot, I don’t tan I just burn, and I think wearing tops and shorts gets old. With fall fashion, you can add so much character to an outfit in all its layers. I thought it’d be fun to do a few posts about fall fashion trends I’m currently loving. The first trend I’m loving is…

7f90644778471d8721557596cf4bcde6The cape! I’m turning into a major coat person. I love peacoats, trench coats, etc. However, when I saw the cape starting to gain popularity, I just fell in love. The cape is so perfect! It has a classic feel with a modern edge. I just love this look!

27b8e282de67d44f69a85df3dcc1211c 8508cc5a033b6e95c4852c1b9ce16061This look is definitely one I hope to try this fall or winter! The cream cape is probably my favorite because I feel like it’d be the most versatile, and it just looks super warm and cozy. Okay… this post has made even more unhappy about the fact it’s still 75-90 degrees everyday. Hope you’re enjoying nice, cold weather. Happy Friday!

Fall Fashion Necessities

Hello, World.

I have some serious fall vibes going lately. I just want pumpkin flavored everything, cozy knits, skinny jeans, and riding boots. I love fall, and I cannot wait for the leaves to change, the cold to settle in, and the smell of rain to come. Anyway, transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall can be tricky at times, so I thought I would share some of my fall fashion essentials. I live in these items from mid-September to November. They are comfy, cute, and practical!
4ac947426938b3fbf751b33826f27469 What makes for great fall style?

In my opinion, great fall style includes a tube scarf (or any scarf really), assorted bangles, a monogrammed piece of jewelry, pearl earrings or any studs you love, either a gold watch or a brown leather watch (depends on mood and personal preference), a brightly colored flannel, a cream knit sweater, dark wash skinny denim, a fall-inspired colored pair of jeans (I always choose olive), riding boots in either black or brown leather, ankle boots to throw on and go, a quilted vest, and either a Barbour or North Face jacket.

What are your favorite fall essentials?

Fall Wish List

Hello, World.

As much as I enjoy the easiness of summer, what with the ability to sleep in, and the luxury of having NO homework, but I must admit that my heart really lies with fall. Fall is like living in the inside the cup containing a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. I adore the feeling that envelopes me when I walk across campus on the first day of fall, a chilly wall of crisp air hitting me as I exit my dorm. I love the sounds of crunching leaves under my feet, and the reddish orange color of leaves in transition. I also really adore knitted scarves, skinny jeans, boots and boot socks, all topped with an insanely soft sweater. Fall is comforting, perhaps that is why Thanksgiving takes place in fall, with all the pies, stuffing, and turkey. We enjoy eating comfort food, wearing comfortable clothing, and and drinking comfortable, warm beverages. So, in light of all these small indulgences, I wanted to take a moment to share my fall wish list!

14e92109dee889933af188297609ec74

J. Crew Statement Necklace | I love statement necklaces, and I especially love the crystal necklaces with fall colored sweaters. It looks so great, and it simply captures the essence of fall.

J. Crew ‘Say Yes’ Sweater | I really love the gist of this sweater. I’m kind of a ‘no’ person. I don’t really step too far out of my comfort zone, and I don’t always say yes to social engagements, but this sweater is a small reminder to say yes, and to step out and try new things. Maybe what I get from this sweater is a little deeper than intended, but I love it!

J. Crew Puffer Vest | You can never have too many vests, and this color is so perfect for fall. It’s so warm and comfortable. I have two puffer vests at the moment, and I can tell you my navy vest got a TON of use last year. I can’t wait to wear my second vest this fall. I used to hate vests, but now I just adore them.

Kate Spade Bow Bangle | I’m trying to build the perfect stack of bracelets, and I feel like this bow bracelet is such a feminine, cute touch. I love Kate Spade, and I wear her bow ring everyday, so why not add the bracelet to my jewelry collection?

Southern Proper Frat Hat | Who doesn’t love a plaid baseball cap? Especially one that comes with an adorable black lab wearing a red bow tie on it? I’m seriously so obsessed with the cap, but I like this tone of plaid better.

Bean Boots | By now you’re probably sick of seeing these boots over and over again on my wish lists. However, I just love them. I find them so adorable and quirky.

Hunter Tour Rain Boots | I got my first pair of Hunter boots last Christmas, and I love them. They’re seriously great rain boots, and the colors are so bright and fun. I would like to get a pair in red, but I want to tour version because they are much lighter and more flexible.

Kate Spade Tote | I’ve been on the hunt for a good tote to use as a book bag, but haven’t found one I’m willing to spend a lot of money on or money that I really really like. This plain black tote with slightly longer handle straps, though, is perfect. I really like it, but I think I’ll save up for it.

Madewell Skinny Skinny Jeans | I’ve heard nothing but positive things about Madewell jeans, and I love a good skinny jean, so these are definitely on my wishlist. Nothing like a perfect pair of skinny jeans, honestly, they make you feel so much more comfortable in your skin.

Boot socks | I’m a firm believer that boot socks are the best. They keep your feet warm and cozy, but also look cute. I love any item where fashionable meets functional, and boot socks certainly have this. I really love American Eagle Outfitters boot socks because they’re always super comfy, and they always have cute patterns and colors.

There you have it, my Fall Wish List. I hope you’re as excited for fall as I am! What fall staples are you currently coveting?

Truly,

Callie leigh

Get Ready for the Leaves to Change

Hello, World.

I’m starting the process of packing for school, and while it’s rather stressful, I’m finding comfort in the fact that I’m heading back to Fall semester. What does fall semester mean to me? Fall semester is always my absolute favorite. I love everything that is fall. Sure, I might feel differently if I lived where it snows 24/7 or where it is constantly icy and freezing, but going to school in the Bay Area is one of the best decisions I ever made. It’s always a really great temperature for layering, and it never gets ridiculously cold, but it still feels so much like fall, what with the changing leaves and brisk mornings. So, in light of the fact that fall is coming soon, I wanted to share some fall outfits I’m totally in love with.

I LOVE dressing for fall. People actually don’t really like shopping with me in the summertime because I always look for fall pieces. For example, in the past three months I bought a vest, a pair of black skinnies, and a few sweaters. Not exactly the best summertime clothing, but hey, you like what you like. If you want some really great fall style inspiration, I would suggest studying the fashion of Gossip Girl. Blair and Serena do fall like no one else!

I love this red coat. I”m really into coats lately. I think a good coat is the key the a good fall wardrobe. Also, Hunter rain boots are my favorite. I really want to get a pair of the packable Hunters because the seem a little more lightweight than the originals.

Leather jacket with the camel Burberry scarf? Exceptional combination. I love the contrast of the more edgy feel with the classic touch.
50b62dc6d9a3d3021cad22ba5cdeb74a
I get really weird about mixing a ton of colors. I always feel like I’m overdoing it, but this outfit is so cute and fun! I love the bright but still subdued colors. I also like stacked bangles, I’m hoping to get some bangles soon, but my wrists are kind of small, which makes it hard because I don’t like when bangles fall really really low on my wrist.
03493260253bbf06f1aa716a2b745e87
Bright accessories can be so powerful. I love the knit sweater with the suede pumps…and that coat? OBSESSED. I also really want to invest in a good chunky crystal necklace in the future.
c1c1458c2a1a9773450eec085e8aac98
I’m a huge fan of olive for this fall. I also love it paired with a mostly black outfit. I don’t care what anyone says, black is the most classic color. It’ll never go out of style, and it’s flattering on everyone.

Boot socks are SO great. I love them paired with a simple pair of boots, and I love a good dark wash denim. Also, I’m all about layering a gingham, bright sweater, and puffy vest. There is something so cozy about this outfit, and I feel like it’s effortlessly preppy. Also, a monogrammed scarf? So cute.

Cabin Time and an Announcement.

Hello, World.

For the last few days I’ve been at my cabin, drinking coffee bundled in oversized sweaters, cuddled on the couch while watching Scandal. It was relaxing, and I appreciate those moments with my family so much. There wasn’t much snow on the ground, unfortunately, and I sure hope that it starts snowing like crazy between now and the end of march or so. I love cold weather, but it’s a little late this year. Anyway, I have an announcement. I’ve decided to change this blog’s URL to bottledcreativityblog.wordpress.com from callieleighcoker.wordpress.com. I did this because this blog is entitled, Bottled Creativity, and I wanted it to be easier to find. I also didn’t want my name as a URL. When I originally chose to start a blog, I didn’t mean to make the URL my name, but I just never could figure out how to change it. So, after some research, I figured it out, and changed it. It’s changed on all my social media, but fear not if you have my old link saved or bookmarked (as I know my mom does). Now whenever you click or type callieleighcoker.wordpress.com into your search engine, you will automatically be redirected to this URL without having to do anything, and all the old posts are still accessible. This was more of a personal, cosmetic change and I hope it doesn’t cause too much confusion, but if it does please email me here. So now that I’ve explained that, on to an outfit post!

ImageThe other announcement I had is that in most of my posts, if I feature or list an item, some of the words are now clickable, and will transfer you to the website I purchased them from or found them on. For example, in this post if you click “Lucky Brand” you will be redirected to the page with this pair of jeans. Some of you may found this already, but I just wanted to comment on it in case it is hard to tell because the links are colored. Hope you’re having a fabulous Thursday! I’m going to dinner at my favorite local eatery tonight.

The Leaves they are a Changin’

Hello, World.
Today was a beautiful day. The weather was perfect… not too hot, not too cold. I also decided that I wasn’t going to bother with homework or schoolwork today because I am not about to start doing school seven days a week. We are supposed to have weekends for a reason, and I would like that think that reason is so we can relax and gain our bearings before another week of the grind. But alas, today was great. My friends, Aly and Andee, joined me for brunch at Millie’s a great local diner that has phenomenal breakfast! Breakfast was delicious, and the conversation was funny, which is always nice. Then we returned to campus, and hiked up past the Redwood Grove, and took some photos. After, we ran to get coffee, but the coffee place was out of soy milk, so I didn’t get anything. Overall, it was one of the funnest days I’ve had in a long time. Being stressed is one of my least favorite things, and I love the moments when I don’t feel completely deranged and can just enjoy the company of good friends. Here are some photos of today’s outfit, and of the beautiful place we went exploring.

The final photo features my lovely photographer of the day, Andee. She’s such a doll, and a wonderful photographer. She really has an eye for great photos! Personally, I think a profession where she typically has a camera in her hand is in her future, but who am I to say? Anyway, my saturday was brilliant, but sadly I know tomorrow means homework…lots of homework. But it’s only 8:30pm so I still have a few hours of being carefree left. Enjoy your Saturday night or Sunday morning, and maybe take a few minutes this week to go explore somewhere or something new!
