Weekend Wears

Hello, World.

If you’re like me, the weekends are for lazy outfits that are comfy and great for running errands and studying. To say the least, I’m my most casual self on the weekends. On Sundays, especially, I throw my hair up or put a baseball cap on, my comfy jeans, and either a sweatshirt, over-sized sweater, or hoodie. Sundays, in my book, are the epitome of comfort. I tend to sleep in, have brunch, blog for a bit, and then end my day with a bit of homework. Sadly, when in college, Sundays are basically reserved for homework. So, I wanted to share one of my favorite weekend outfits today!

This Patagonia hoodie is SO comfortable. I got it for Christmas, and I just love it. I usually wear it with leggings, boots, and a scarf, especially if I’m heading from class to yoga. I’m really excited to style this hat a little more preppy, too. Another Christmas gift that I want to keep mixing up. I really the needlepoint detailing.

Cream and Amber

Hello, World.

As you’ve probably figured out, I adore vests. I’m all about the J. Crew Excursion vest look. I usually put a vest over everything, especially since the weather where I go to school is kind of unpredictable. Sometimes it looks warm, but it’s freezing when I go outside. Sometimes it looks cold, but is super warm when I head to class. It can be inconsistent, and hard to dress for, but I’ve found that a light sweater, vest, and jeans proves pretty full proof. For Christmas, I got this adorable cream vest, and I’m so happy to have a more neutral vest in my wardrobe. I previously had navy and herringbone, but I have so many navy tops, I can’t really put the navy vest with them, and the herringbone is more for dressing up (usually). Cream is the perfect middle!

What do you think of vests? How do you style them?

Red Plaid and Herringbone

Hello, World.

About three months ago, my parents came to visit me at school, and we went shopping one of the days they were here. We went into Francesca’s downtown, and I found some different blanket scarves. I’d been wanting to try a blanket scarf for a while, but never really got around to it. When I saw the scarves at that store, however, I got really excited. They had so many different versions, which made it difficult to pick which one I wanted. Long story short, I decided against this one (which Marley Lilly later sent me!) and chose to go with a red and navy plaid. My mom bought it for me, but was going to save it until Christmas. Well, I opened it  Christmas morning, and was so excited to wear it! There is nothing like a good plaid scarf to keep you warm on chilly days!

IMG_2748IMG_2754IMG_2749IMG_2764I’m a huge scarf person, but I haven’t worn scarves much this fall and winter. This scarf, though, is so warm and soft and comfy that I imagine I’ll be wearing it at least once a week! What’s your go-to scarf? Have you tried blanket scarves? If so, what’s your favorite way to tie them?

Varsity Stripes

Hello, World.

You know what I love? When I find a sweater that is cozy, cute, and practical. For Christmas my mom got me this sweater, and I just love it! I picked it out a while ago, and I thought it would be good for this winter. I’m a big vest person, and I thought it’d be perfect for pairing with any of my vests. I loved this outfit. It’s rather simple, but that’s partially why I like it so much. I love a good casual outfit with a hint of style.

IMG_2694IMG_2700IMG_2699IMG_2708 IMG_2693IMG_2692I just love this sweater! It’s been so so cold in Chico lately. My family and I freeze every time we go outside. We always try to convince each other to take the puppy out to go potty because none of us want to go outside. I imagine I’ll be putting this outfit together this semester for class, dinner with friends, or heading to a cafe for homework!

Happy New Year’s Eve!!

Little Green Blazer

Hello, World.

Where I live, it is still consistently 75 degrees everyday, which is kind of a bummer for someone who loves cold weather. I’ve decided that I would rather just boycott warm weather, and start dressing for actual fall. This is interesting, a little warm, but I still like winter outfits better. A few weeks ago I was browsing J. Crew, and there was a 30% off clearance day, and I stumbled across this green blazer I picked out about a year ago, but never purchased. It was a great price, so I grabbed it while I could, and I’m so happy I did!

I absolutely love this outfit. Despite the fact that it’s a little warm, I still love the layers in this outfit. I also cannot get over how much I like this blazer. It’s the perfect shade of green, and I feel so polished when I wear it!

Happy Sunday!

Pumpkins and Elbow Patches

Hello, World.

I love fall, and it’s finally starting to get colder where I am from, which is awesome! I’m very much a cold weather person. I love cable knit sweaters, boots, and a good fit of jeans. I basically live in some variation of the outfit I’m sharing today everyday of fall. I’m all about cute AND comfy, especially when I’m at school. Over the weekend I went home because I had a break in school, and my parents, my friend, Kate, and I went to a pumpkin patch! I love pumpkin patches, even though I’m twenty years old. The holidays bring out the kid in me.

Herringbone and Burch

Hello, World.

Fall is officially here, and yet the sun is still shining, and it’s still 70 degrees outside. I’m not exactly thrilled it is still super warm outside, but oh well. In a feeble attempt to channel some fall vibes, I keep dressing more for fall…but then I end up dying of a heat stroke, so I change mid-day. I recently ordered the J. Crew herringbone vest, and I’m super in love with it. I’m beginning to really love vests. Last winter I wore my vest a ton. I wanted to invest in another vest for this fall, but I wanted a vest that had a little more texture. When the herringbone vest came back in stock, I knew I had to get it.

DSC_0150DSC_0219DSC_0151DSC_0187DSC_0158DSC_0215DSC_0217DSC_0231DSC_0190DSC_0234I really love this vest, and I think I’ll style it with plaid next. Also, my first Tory boots are heaven. They’re so sleek and comfortable. I’m really happy my mom was kind enough to get them as an early birthday gift during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I hope you’re having a good weekend! I’m heading out soon to get vitality bowls, and tomorrow is one of my best friend’s 21st birthday!

Get Ready for the Leaves to Change

Hello, World.

I’m starting the process of packing for school, and while it’s rather stressful, I’m finding comfort in the fact that I’m heading back to Fall semester. What does fall semester mean to me? Fall semester is always my absolute favorite. I love everything that is fall. Sure, I might feel differently if I lived where it snows 24/7 or where it is constantly icy and freezing, but going to school in the Bay Area is one of the best decisions I ever made. It’s always a really great temperature for layering, and it never gets ridiculously cold, but it still feels so much like fall, what with the changing leaves and brisk mornings. So, in light of the fact that fall is coming soon, I wanted to share some fall outfits I’m totally in love with.

I LOVE dressing for fall. People actually don’t really like shopping with me in the summertime because I always look for fall pieces. For example, in the past three months I bought a vest, a pair of black skinnies, and a few sweaters. Not exactly the best summertime clothing, but hey, you like what you like. If you want some really great fall style inspiration, I would suggest studying the fashion of Gossip Girl. Blair and Serena do fall like no one else!

I love this red coat. I”m really into coats lately. I think a good coat is the key the a good fall wardrobe. Also, Hunter rain boots are my favorite. I really want to get a pair of the packable Hunters because the seem a little more lightweight than the originals.

Leather jacket with the camel Burberry scarf? Exceptional combination. I love the contrast of the more edgy feel with the classic touch.

I get really weird about mixing a ton of colors. I always feel like I’m overdoing it, but this outfit is so cute and fun! I love the bright but still subdued colors. I also like stacked bangles, I’m hoping to get some bangles soon, but my wrists are kind of small, which makes it hard because I don’t like when bangles fall really really low on my wrist.

Bright accessories can be so powerful. I love the knit sweater with the suede pumps…and that coat? OBSESSED. I also really want to invest in a good chunky crystal necklace in the future.

I’m a huge fan of olive for this fall. I also love it paired with a mostly black outfit. I don’t care what anyone says, black is the most classic color. It’ll never go out of style, and it’s flattering on everyone.

Boot socks are SO great. I love them paired with a simple pair of boots, and I love a good dark wash denim. Also, I’m all about layering a gingham, bright sweater, and puffy vest. There is something so cozy about this outfit, and I feel like it’s effortlessly preppy. Also, a monogrammed scarf? So cute.

Olive Summer

Hello, World.

Dressing for summer is always a little hard for me because I tend to layer a ton, and when it’s roughly 109 degrees outside, layering can be…hot. However, I’ve started figuring out how I can layer and stay cool. When I styled the Warby Parker Summer collection, I had a really great time putting five different outfits together, and I wanted to be able to share the details of each outfit! This first outfit was one that I will probably recreate well into late September.

I really love these sneakers. I’ve wanted to get a pair of sneakers for a while, but I never found a pair that were athletic and stylish at the same time. Most of the pairs I found were either way too athletic or looked like I should go hiking. This pair of Josef Seibel’s, however, are perfect! I absolutely love them, and they are so comfortable. I think I’ll keep these for years! Now, I realize they’re kind of hard to see in the photo, but I imagine there will be many more outfits that include these shoes in the near future!
