Happy Monday! I hope you’re Monday is filled with productivity and coffee. I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you what is currently catching my attention. There are two things that keep popping up in my daily life, so I figured I would share what they are and why.
This Youtube video about How the Ideal Body Has Changed throughout history. I first saw this video sometime last week, but it keeps popping up on my newsfeed. I really loved this video when I saw it because I think it illuminates just how much the concept of an “ideal body” is a social construction that is malleable and fleeting. We are all beautiful in our way, and I think the more important thing to focus on is not the ideal body, but loving yourself on the inside. People can work toward achieving an external ideal, but if they are unhappy with the internal, well, it’s a rather hopeless cause. I hope you take a few minutes to watch this video! It really has a great underlying message.
My go to studying playlist! When I’m reading lately or working on anything school related, I immediately start this playlist. Whoever thought of the Mood playlists section on Spotify is a genius. Like honestly, they’re the greatest thing ever. The other Mood I use a lot is Focus because it has a lot of quiet or classical music, which is great for hardcore studying.
What’s on your mind?
It’s that time of the week again, when I share a few things I’m currently loving. Last week was, quite literally, the week from Hell. I don’t know that I’ve ever been more swamped. On that note, I found comfort in the little things… which included the three items below!
My baseball cap obsession is reaching a new high… and the current hat I’m dying to add to my mini collection is this one from Harding Lane. Carly of the College Prepster wore it a few weeks ago, and I just adore it. The other hats from this company I love include a beautiful green hat and an American flag hat.
Candice Accola got married to the Fray’s Joe King a few days ago! First of all, she’s part of The Vampire Diaries’ family, so naturally I love her. Second, she’s absolutely perfect, and her wedding was superb. Third, she’s stunning and she plays Caroline (one of my favorite girls on the show). Her wedding seemed magical, and I’m happy for her!
To add to my obsession of Shonda Rimes, I’m now completely hooked on How to Get Away with Murder. The show is absolutely insane, and while it probably bares little if any resemblance to actual law school, I just find it utterly fascinating. If you haven’t started watching I suggest you DVR the episodes, and binge watch until you’re caught up. Also, if my verbose description did not entice you… Viola Davis, Paris from Gilmore Girls, and Dean from Harry Potter star in the show. Enough said.
I’m having a pretty busy week, but I wanted to stop in and let you know what’s caught my attention recently! In all honesty, most of the things I’m attracted to lately have to do with fall (because it’s still WAY TOO HOT), or a break in school because I’m really tired and just want to take a few days off.
1. Shake it Off Parody: Pumpkin Spice Latte. This is beautiful, and funny, and made me laugh entirely too hard yesterday. If you need a good laugh, watch the video. Also, now I’m craving a pumpkin spice latte! Yikes…the addiction ensues.
2. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I’ve been seeing this novel everywhere lately, and I feel like everyone is either reading it or read it. It’s definitely going on my Christmas Break reading list, and I’m hoping to get some ‘for fun’ reading in soon. I never get to read for myself during the school year, which is a shame.
3. Whitv’s instagram account and products. Whitney Blake runs Heart and Arrow Design, which has all kinds of really great blogging products and general organization products. Her instagram is bright, white, and clean, and I always really enjoy her photos!
Enojoy Thursday, and happy almost Friday!
Do you ever find that sometimes you just find random things awesome or interesting? Well, I do…all the time. Life is so crazy sometimes, and it’s nice to take a few minutes to just appreciate the little things. So, I wanted to stop in today and share with you some things that have caught my attention this week!
First, I took the Gilmore Girls Superfan Quiz earlier this week, and got a 41 out of 50! The questions even included some things about the creator of the show, so you really had to know your stuff (hence why I didn’t a perfect score). The quiz is pretty quick, a fun study break, and a way to test your knowledge! Gilmore Girls is my favorite television show of all time, despite the fact that it’s been off the air for roughly seven years. I think there’s been a resurgence of the Gilmore fandom recently, though, since the show will be available on Netflix next week! Rory Gilmore is my hero!
The Brooks Brothers Red Fleece Collection has me swooning. SO many preppy, classic pieces. Also, I may or may not be obsessed with this flannel. Like honestly, do you see the color combination? It just screams East Coast Christmas to me…
Maybe I’ll definitely add it to my Christmas List.
If you’ve been struggling to get up lately like me, this article might offer you a little inspiration. If you’re interested in living a successful life, then maybe you should start getting up with the sun! Written by Lauren Martin, the article ‘Successful People All Have One Thing In Common: They Rise With The Sun,’ offers insight into living a healthier, more successful, and therefore more productive lifestyle! The article is extremely well written, and something I really enjoyed. Maybe I’ll start setting my alarm for 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. for the rest of my junior year.
I may have more things on my radar next week, but alas, a busy life doesn’t exactly leave room for side interests. I hope you’re having a good week!
