Plaid Shoes

Hello, World.

You know the holiday season is near when the plaid items start infiltrating all the stores! I am SO obsessed with all the plaid shoes in stores right now. I think they’re perfect for adding a festive touch to any outfit without being too over the top. Here are my favorites pairs of plaid shoes:

Cold Weather Accessories

Hello, World.

It’s getting chilly here in Virginia! Today there was definitely a biting cold in the air as I was walking into my law school building. Moving from California is an adjustment. I knew I’d be cold, but it’s interesting to me that 60 degrees here feels significantly colder than 60 degrees in CA. It’s also raining more, which requires umbrellas, and other cold weather accessories! Today, I wanted my go to items once the chill in the air gets a little more intense!

All I Want for Christmas Is…

Hello World.

I’m 22 years old, and yet I still take Christmas SO seriously. I love the holiday season. I started getting ridiculously into it when I was away from home for the first time in college. I remember thinking of the holidays as markers. Halloween meant the semester was half over, Thanksgiving was the weekend of pure bliss and food before the finals countdown, and Christmas meant that the semester was over, and it was time to be jolly with the family and bring on good cheer. I think now it’s hard because I’m not going home until Christmas, but I take the month of December (well, November and December really), so seriously in preparation. I ordered my December Daily album for this year, and started compiling a list for my mom (she requests one every year for ideas). This year, I noticed my list is a little heavy on coats, but it’s okay because I hear Virginia after winter break is VERY cold.

So, anywhere, here are the things I’m currently asking Santa for. I know it might be early to think about Christmas, but it approaches so fast, and the earlier you think about gifts you want to give as well as receive the better!

I love winter time, and I’m excited to actually live somewhere that gets some snow! The above items are things I’m loving for this season!

Super Last Minute Halloween Costumes

Hello, World!

If you’re like me, then Halloween is one of those things you always want to dress up for, and you have a good costume idea around July, but somewhere October 1st, you think it’s still forever away, and then all of the sudden it’s the Thursday before and you have no costume and few ideas. Well, never fear! I’m here with some easy last minute ideas to throw together before any Halloween bashes this weekend.

Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 9.49.01 PM.png

With the Gilmore Girls revival coming up, this costume is relevant, and many people will probably know what you are! I’d suggest checking out your local thrift stores if you don’t already have some of the items in your closet. Otherwise, it’s easy to use similar items that you already own! Also, to top it off, I suggest getting to go coffee cups and pasting the label from the pop up Luke’s Diners on it. That’ll definitely give you away if the sharp contrast between cowgirl and prep school girl doesn’t! This is great for a friends duo costume. Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 9.51.47 PM.png

Need a really last minute alternative? Black skinnies, a black tee or blouse, and pumps will give you an undead vibe, then add some red lipstick and fake blood drips down you chin, and you’re all vamped out. Need inspiration? Watch an episode of Vampire Diaries! Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 9.56.16 PM.png

If you love a classic icon, then Audrey Hepburn is the look for you! Have a little black dress in your closet? Pair with pearls, pumps, some costume accessories, and you’re good to go. Also, to top it off I would add long black gloves you can. You can also make a fake cigarette holder with black paper if you don’t have one and don’t want to buy one! Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 10.36.31 PM.png

If you want to bend gender a bit, Luke Danes is a super easy look to pull off with stuff already in your closet. If you don’t have a flannel, I’m sure you could borrow one from a friend! And this look is incomplete without a backwards baseball cap! Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 10.28.47 PM.png

Want to go comfy but still dresses up? Do your hair and makeup, but wear PJs and a sleep mask, and BOOM, you’re a Victoria’s Secret model. Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 10.25.44 PM.png

Have a fancy dress that has a vintage vibe? Add a jeweled piece to your hair, and vintage or normal heels and you have a full flapper look reminiscent of the Great Gatsby. Screen Shot 2016-10-26 at 9.58.51 PM.png

Again, a super easy look to pull off if you’re really crunched for time. Red accessories are all you need to complete this look. Also, if you have thick black-frammed glasses that’s even better, but they aren’t necessary!

What’s you costume this year?

Sleep Shirts

Hello, World.

As the weather gets colder, and the chill in the air becomes more noticeable, it’s hard to be comfortable while sleeping. Lately I’m either too bundled up or freezing, pulling the covers up and adjusting them every few minutes. One of my friends bought me a sleep shirt for Christmas two years ago, and I loved it. I’m usually a t-shirt and boxer short girl, but I also really like how comfortable sleep shirts are. Also, the long-sleeved shirt gives the right amount of warmth while not allowing you to overheat!

I also love to get a sleep shirt that has soft fabric. There is something SO relaxing about slipping into a big shirt and crawling into bed after a long day at law school.

Truly,
Callie leigh

Fall…

Hello, World!

Fall is, technically, officially here! I’m so excited for the leaves to change, the temperatures to drop, and the warm lattes. Although it’s still pretty warm (mid 70s-low 80s), I’m trying to convince myself it’s going to get colder because I love the cold. I also cannot stress enough how excited I am to actually have distinct seasons. I’m ready for an East Coast fall and some snow come winter! I wanted to share a quick fall outfit, in case it’s actually pretty cold where some of you are! And if it’s not, well, here’s some inspiration and hope that fall comes faster.

Fall Inspiration

Hello, World.

I am one of those fall obsessed people who gets to September 1st, and thinks its time for boots, sweaters and jeans. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t seem to be with me since it’s still regularly 90 degrees and humid in Virginia. I have been trying to not let the heat get to me, but I’m really really ready to walk outside and feel a crisp chill in the air. In light of my love for fall and my desperation for the leaves to change, I wanted to share a little fall inspiration, meaning items that immediately make me think of fall! Below are items I’m currently loving, and would love to invest in for fall ’16! As a general aside, I’m excited to be somewhere that actually has stricter seasons. I love California, but the weather is almost too perfect because it doesn’t really change too drastically. I’ve heard that VA is beautiful in the fall and too cold in the winter (but is DOES snow!!!). I cannot express my excitement for the coming seasons. I plan to take a ton of photos of William and Mary’s main campus when the leaves change!
Screen Shot 2016-09-10 at 12.42.45 PM.png

The above items are all things I absolutely love at the moment! Something I want to get more of? Matching PJ sets. I don’t know why, but having matching PJs make me feel more grown up and put together. I get a set of flannel PJs every year for christmas, and I love them! I also would love another pair of Tory riding boots. I wear mine almost daily during the winter months, and they’re such comfortable boots. I also really want the 6″ Bean Boots. I got the 8″ against my original instinct, and while I like them, I think the 6″ hits the leg in a more flattering place, and are easier to put on and take off. Also, the BP scarf from Nordstrom embodies every fall color, and just screams fall to me. As for the Marley Lilly pullover, people who know me know I cannot resist a good monogram, and I think this piece is just SO cute. It’d be perfect for long days at the library.

If you need a good fall scent, I highly recommend the Leaves scent from Bath and Body works. It smells like fall in more ways than I can explain. A lot of pumpkins and apple scents smell great, but leaves literally smells like a fall day. I just love it!

Are you ready for autumn?

Apartment Tour

Hello, World.

Today I am so so excited to share my apartment! For the record, it’s a townhouse so it will probably seem bigger than a regular apartment! We are living in a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath. It’s massive compared to what I’m used to! A lot of what you see below is inspired by Pinterest and my own personal style. I love love love how the place looks, and it feels great to come home to. IMG_3332IMG_3337IMG_3343IMG_3333IMG_3334IMG_3335IMG_3336IMG_3341IMG_3342IMG_3344IMG_3345IMG_3346IMG_3348IMG_3349IMG_3350IMG_3351IMG_3352

I’m sure that we will add or alter things as we go, but for now this is home and it definitely feels amazing to have a “home” that isn’t a residence hall. Having the separation between school and home is so great. *The link function is not working right now, but if you need help finding something I have featured, let me know and I’ll send you the link!

I am so pleased this is home and I love it here! I’m getting used to Williamsburg, but so far it’s been fun, eventful, and feels very much like home!

Trying Lush Again

vsco-photo-1.jpg

Hello, World.

After seeing one too many Instagram posts about Lush Cosmetics, and the iconic bath bomb shot, I decided to make a trip to the closest Lush to my home, and invest in some Lush goodies. I remember when Lush first got started, my friend got some of the products and gifted them to me. I think there was a shower gel that smelled like grass, which at the time wasn’t my favorite. I wasn’t as in to natural products, and I wasn’t into fresh smells, I liked floral or even musky scents. Anyway, fast forward to my recent trip to the store, where I asked a woman working there to help me find a good face cleanser and mask. I also wanted to try a bath bomb or two because they seem fun and there’s nothing like pampering your skin!

So, after spending probably too long in the store, I left with a few products that I wanted. I got the sex bomb (jasmine scented) and the twilight bomb (lavender scented). I’ve since used both and was in love. I will probably get many more once I’m settled in my new place because we have a bathtub! I also have heard of people buying bath bombs, leaving them in the bag, and leaving them in a drawer or something in their room to make their room smell good! I may try that soon. The vibrant colors of the bath bombs are just a perk, but the real pleasure comes from the soft, silky feel of your skin after using one.

Anyway, the final two products are face focused. I bought the Cup o’ Coffee face mask because I’d heard good things, and my coffee addiction basically made a coffee flavored mask a must. I tried it, and while I don’t usually use face masks, I really liked it! The caffeine wakes up  your skin a bit, and perks it up. I also bought the Let the Good Times Roll face cleanser, which has REAL popcorn in it. I know, it sounds totally weird, but its actually awesome and smells heavenly. I love it! I’m excited to keep using it, as it’s super creamy and leaves my skin fresh and perky. I highly recommend!
vsco-photo-3.jpg
vsco-photo-2.jpgI’m really excited to continue exploring all that Lush offers, and I’m curious to see the ways that the company grows! They recently introduced hair care, but I was reluctant to try it since my sister is a cosmetologist, and I usually ask her before I used hair products.

Have you tried Lush? What are your favorite products?

Truly,
Callie leigh
