Hello, World!
I wanted to pop in and share some movies I’ve seen recently. My roommate and I usually go to the movies once a week as a nice break from law school stress, and usually, we get lucky and see something good. Sometimes we see something great and sometimes we leave feeling like we definitely just wasted our money.
First, we saw Crazy Rich Asians. I know there was a ton of hype about this movie before it was released, largely due to the success of the novel upon which the film is based. I didn’t read the book (so bad of me, but it’s now on my list!). I did hear, though, that some people liked the story arc in the film better. I would 10/10 recommend this one! 5 Stars!
Second, we say A Simple Favor. This was a funny one because we often couldn’t tell if it was meant to be comedic or actually a thriller. Still, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively killed. Also loved seeing Henry Golding again. This one was probably 3.5 stars for me.
Third, we saw Life Itself. If I could give negative stars, I would. This movie was so depressing and weird and left me in a funk for two weeks. DO NOT recommend.
Fourth, we saw the new remake of Little Women. After seeing Life Itself, this was a much needed, lighthearted film. We really enjoyed it and left feeling happy, which was so nice after the travesty that was our previous pick.
Fifth, we finally saw A Star Is Born after months of seeing the trailers for this movie. We absolutely, positively loved this movie. There is a twist at the end that doesn’t quite follow the originals, which surprised us. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper have insane, unexpected chemistry. The soundtrack is incredible. I listened to it for a week after seeing this. Again, five stars and I suggest everyone see it!
Up next? We want to see Bad Times at the El Royale (Dakota Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, and John Hamm) and First Man. We’re also so excited for November to see Bohemian Rhapsody and Mary Queen of Scots in December!
Truly,
Callie leigh
