January Term Break

Hello, World.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I went home for the first week of February because my college has a break between January Term and Spring Semester. I wasn’t quite as eager to go home for this break, but I was also SO excited to see my mom’s new puppy, and spend quality time with my family. I’m in the process of making a lot of big decisions, so having their support and being able to talk to them about my ideas was really helpful. I also got all my supplies for Spring semester while I was home, so I was excited about that. I wanted to share a few of the things I did while I was home, and simply a few pieces of my relaxing break.
IMG_5634If you follow me on instagram, you probably realized that vacation means I blog… a lot. I try to blog a lot over breaks, and even pre-write posts for the future because, frankly, it’s nearly impossible to blog consistently throughout the semester if I have to start from scratch on each post. I love blogging, and it’s something I find calming, but sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. One of my goals for this semester, though, is to blog more consistently and with more helpful and insightful content! So, stay tuned!
IMG_5636Break time also means I get to read for fun! During the school year, I find it really difficult to make time to read for pleasure. By the time I finish all my homework, I’d rather meet up with friends, watch Netflix, or blog. I’m usually too burnt out to continue reading because my eyes hurt and I’m usually pretty restless. This probably sounds like an excuse, and to some extent it is, I guess, but it’s just hard for me to read for fun on top of being an English major. This break, though, I read Me Before You, and oh my goodness, this book was absolutely stunning. There were parts I weren’t in love with, sure, but overall I just felt like this book was so interesting and thought provoking and honest. I would highly recommend it!
IMG_5657I spent a ton of time with my mom, whether we just went to get coffee, had a Barnes and Noble date, or went to one of my various appointments. I simply adore my mother. I often joke our relationship is like Lorelei and Rory from Gilmore Girls because we really do act more like best friends or sisters than mom and daughter. I’m really blessed to have such a supportive, hilarious, and awesome mom! Having some quality time this break was great, and I miss her already.
IMG_0010Finally, I spent tons of time getting puppy kisses and snuggles from this 3 pound pup. She’s seriously the cutest, feistiest little thing, and I love her so much. I’m really sad to leave her, especially because from now until my next break is way longer than I’ve ever gone without seeing her. I may have to drive home one weekend to see her because otherwise I might go through withdrawals.

Not pictured: I got the iPhone 6, and I am completely obsessed with it! The screen is such a perfect size, and the images and whatnot are so much clearer. Like honestly, for an instagram junkie the iPhone 6 camera is a very beautiful thing.

So, overall, my break was relaxing and successful, and went by a little too quickly. I hope you’re having a good weekend!

Truly,
Callie leigh
