I cannot believe it is almost 2015 already! 2014 went by in a bit of a flash. I feel like this was a big year for me for several reasons. My biggest accomplishments of 2014 include: my internship, being hired as a Resident Advisor, being a Resident Advisor, getting a new family puppy, starting to work with companies for blogging purposes, deciding I definitely want to go to law school, and enjoying myself! This year was relaxed, drama free (for the most part), and solidifying as far as where I am and where I’m headed. I feel so at peace with myself! Everyone could use improvement, and I know I can, but right now I’m content. In 2015, though, I really want to grow. I’m hoping this year I’ll start focusing more on myself. That may sound really selfish, and it probably is to an extent, but I think my twenties is the time to do things that make me happy, to take care of myself, and to achieve my goals.
Looking back on 2014, I achieved six of my ten resolutions (Leave the Past, Befriend Someone I Do Not Like, Read 15 Novels, Try Something New, Improve My Photos, Get an Internship). I liked doing resolutions for 2014, but this year I’m doing things a bit differently. I’m making resolutions, but they are more general about lifestyle choices. I’m also trying to stick to only attainable things, rather than putting “work out everyday” when I know I won’t (partially because I just don’t make the time).
I want to make 2015 my best year yet, and I think these resolutions will do just that. A few of them, like relax for 30 minutes a day, is a little reminder to take care of myself, take a minute to not stress about the millions of things I have to do in a semester, and just enjoy each day! Something I’ve learned about resolutions is that people tend to want to be super ambitious, but about a month in, the list is completely forgotten. I want to post this little list on my wall in front of my desk, and remind myself to stick with it because none of the items are too outrageous! So, what are your resolutions? Do you have some that carry over from last year?
Celebrating the new year is always an ordeal… Some people go all out, some people have game nights with the family, and some people go to cocktail parties. This year, I’m headed to my aunt’s house for a cocktail party. Since I’m home for the holidays, I’ll be ringing in the new year with my family because, well, I have to go back to school soon and I want maximum family time before then! I wanted to share a few outfit ideas for all different types of celebrations. I love a good excuse to dress up, so I figured I’d share what I would wear to each type of celebration.
Sometimes all you need is a cozy night in with your best friends to bring in the new year, especially if 2014 was a hard or challenging year! Regardless of which celebration you’re attending, rock your outfit!
