One thing that’s difficult about living in the dorm is that you don’t get to sleep the best mattresses in the world. In fact, getting a really good night’s sleep is pretty difficult on college mattresses. If I could choose a mattress to put in my dorm, however, I’d look at Casper mattresses. This is a new company that is offering better sleep for people who invest in their mattresses.
The Casper description of their awesome mattress: By uniting a top comfort layer of premium latex with a support layer of high-density memory foam, we created a sleep surface that lovingly contours while retaining a healthy bounce and cool temperature.
Having a great mattress is the key to getting a good night’s sleep, but there are other factors that can improve sleep. For example, do you have a routine for getting the best beauty sleep? Do you have methods of improving your sleep cycle? No? Well, I do, and I wanted to share them with you!
My favorite way to get great sleep is to wear comfortable, matching pajamas. I have two different pajama sets that I switch between in the winter. Depending on the temperature in my room, I either sleep with less clothing or more bundled up.
If it’s a little warmer in my room, I wear shorts and a t-shirt. I will wear fuzzy slippers until I’m about to go to bed because usually my house or room is colder than when I get into bed, so the slippers help keep me warm but not overheated.
If it’s a little colder, I will wear leggings, a loose t-shirt, comfy socks, and my hair braided softly. I usually take the socks off before I actually get into bed because I don’t want to overheat while sleeping.
Before heading to bed, I wash my face, put moisturizer on, and take my contacts out. I try not to look at my phone too much before going to bed because the light can make me more awake. If I have time, I try to read a little before bed because it’s relaxing and gets my mind focused. Usually I have millions of thoughts running around in my head, so I try to calm down before getting into bed. I also try to cut down on my caffeine intake after 5 pm because it makes it much easier to fall asleep.
I’m so excited to head home for the holidays, and actually have a normal sleeping schedule! I definitely get much more beauty sleep when I’m home because I get more sleep, more consistent hours of sleep, and my bed is much more comfortable at home.
